A Night of Art

abstract art (noun) – art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

This week for The Monday Society, all of our game choices were based around artwork, and most especially games that involved some more absurdist and abstract designs. Some of our weekly themes are more popular than others, and this one was very well received.

Trying to uncover deception in Detective Club.

Our group has a strong passion for games by French game publisher Libellud, and tonight was no different. After trying to escape a corrupted library in Obscurio, we tried to uncover the One Key. In both cases, we failed miserably. #Fail.

The joy about games with abstract art like Detective Club, Dixit and Dreams is that there are so many ways to interpret the images. Is this telling a story about a granny owl, or is the focus the creation of the snake? Maybe it’s weaving a story about preparing for the coming winter. The interpretation is yours to make.
